polytree is largely concerned with what has come to be known as the “left field” of electronic music — imaginative audio that is not necessarily intended for the dance floor. Reviews of recent releases from both the independent and net label scenes are this blog’s bread and butter.

About the Author

Greg Benedicto is a native of upstate New York. He has no technical knowledge of music, but he accumulates the stuff like mad and somehow imagines that this qualifies him to write about it. His first encounter with electronic music was Taco Ockerse’s 1982 cover of “Puttin’ On the Ritz”:

“When I was very young my grandmother would take me with her to the local American Legion. Ockerse’s track was on the jukebox there. I loved to dance to it, in my weird little way, and so my grandmother would cue it up for me all the time. In retrospect we must have been driving the other patrons nuts, but that song had done something to me. It got inside my head.”
